Filtering Profile Types:

A filtering profile is used by all users who are set up to be filtered on the network. This profile consists of rules that dictate whether a user has access to a specified Web site or service on the Internet.

There are 10 types of filtering profiles that can be created, based on the group type(s) set up in the tree menu of the Group section of the Administrator console:

  1. global filtering profile - the default filtering profile that is positioned at the base of the hierarchical tree structure.
  2. override account profile - structurally located in the Global Group menu, this profile can be set up for a specified user who is not in an IP group.
  3. IP group filtering profile - takes precedence over the global filtering profile.
  4. IP sub-group filtering profile - takes precedence over the IP group filtering profile.
  5. Individual IP member filtering profile - takes precedence over the IP sub-group filtering profile.

Two other profiles can be created for use by IP group users:

    • time profile - this filtering profile is set up to be used at a specified time by all designated IP group users
    • override account profile - this profile can be set up for a specified user in an IP group
  1. NT/LDAP group filtering profile - takes precedence over the global filtering profile.
  2. NT/LDAP member filtering profile - takes precedence over the NT/LDAP group filtering profile.
  3. LDAP container filtering profile takes precedence over the LDAP group filtering profile, but does not take precedence over the individual's LDAP filtering profile.
  4. NT/LDAP group filtering time profile - takes precedence over the NT/LDAP group, member, or container filtering profile.
  5. NT/LDAP member filtering time profile - takes precedence over the NT/LDAP group (or LDAP container) filtering time profile.
