Peer-to-Peer:
P2P Blocking
Peer-to-Peer (P2P) involves communication between computing devicesdesktops,
servers, and other smart devicesthat are linked directly to
each other. Using this feature of the R3000, groups and/or individual
client machines can be set up to block P2P services specified in
the library category. (See Blocked
IM and P2P Clients and Services for details on blocked
P2P components and features.)
How P2P Works
When the P2P module is loaded on the server, the R3000 compares
packets on the network with the P2P library stored on the R3000
server. If a match is found, the R3000 checks the users profile
to see whether the users connection to the P2P service should
be blocked, and then performs the appropriate action.
