8e6 R3000 Internet Filter Honored for Best-in-Class URL Filtering LAS VEGAS, NV--Wednesday April 30, 2008--8e6 Technologies, the leading independent provider of Web filtering and insider threat management solutions for mid-size to large enterprises, today announced it has again earned the Checkmark Premium Level Web Filtering Certification from West Coast Labs, one of the world's foremost independent test laboratories. This certification applies to the latest version of 8e6’s R3000, the company’s flagship Web filtering appliance and the first ever Web filtering solution to receive West Coast Labs certification in 2006. For a product to be certified for the West Coast Labs Checkmark Premium Level Web Filtering Certification, the product must ensure that during the test period, 100 percent of attempts to access material via the Web in contravention of a standard Web usage security policy will fail and that such attempts will be logged. After thorough evaluation, West Coast Labs declared that the “8e6 R3000 offers ease of implementation, common authentication mechanisms, a high degree of customization, and an easy interface that has few demands on the user with an ability to deploy the device in multiple modes.” The 8e6 R3000 Internet Filter is a dedicated network appliance that manages end user access to Internet-based content. It is designed to provide scalable, high-speed filtering solutions to support up to 30,000 users with a single appliance, and provides access to more than 100 categories and millions of Web sites in the 8e6 Database. 8e6’s innovative “pass-by” filtering sits to the side of the network traffic, watching and comparing requests to the 8e6 database of Web sites and URLs. The R3000 also includes a one-of-a-kind Proxy Pattern Blocking option that blocks end-users from using third-party proxies and applications such as Google Web Accelerator, which bypasses filtering. The R3000 can be easily combined with 8e6’s Enterprise Reporter and Threat Analysis Reporter to deliver a comprehensive filtering, reporting and monitoring solution for networks of any size and configuration. “We are proud to have earned West Coast Labs’ highest certification for Web filtering for a second evaluation round,” said Eric Lundbohm, vice president of marketing at 8e6 Technologies. “This Premium Level accreditation speaks to the endurance and consistent ability of the 8e6 team to deliver a Web filtering product of the highest industry standard.” To learn more about the 8e6 R3000 and 8e6’s full line of Internet filtering, reporting and monitoring solutions, please visit www.8e6.com or 8e6 Technologies’ Booth #418 at Interop Las Vegas 2008, April 28 – May 2 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
