Olympia, London, UK – InfoSecurity Europe – Booth F120 – April 22-24, 2008
London, UK – April 18, 2008 – 8e6 Technologies, the leading independent provider of Internet filtering and insider threat management solutions for mid-size to large enterprises, will demonstrate a range of its award-winning solutions at the InfoSecurity Europe 2008 exhibition in London next week. Amongst the products on show at Wick Hill’s booth, F120, will be 8e6 Professional Edition – recently named SC Magazine’s “Best Buy” for Web content management for the second year running.
Eric Lundbohm, vice president of marketing, 8e6 Technologies said: “The threat to enterprise from employees’ Internet use has never been greater – phishing, access to adult or inappropriate content, and malware pose a grave risk to corporations’ networks, while the lure of social networking applications or Internet TV continues to effect productivity. This is truly the threat from within.”
“The SC Magazine “Best Buy” award provided a clear endorsement of 8e6 Technologies’ value for money, yet best of breed approach to Internet filtering and monitoring. The company will be at InfoSec to build on the momentum of signing first our first VAD in the UK, Wick Hill, and to continue to offer the UK market a clear alternative to displaced Websense customers following its merger with SurfControl,” he concluded.
The 8e6 Professional Edition includes the following products:
R3000
The company’s flagship R3000 Internet Filter is a dedicated network appliance that manages end user access to Internet-based content. Designed to provide scalable, high-speed filtering solutions to support up to 30,000 users with a single appliance, the R3000 provides access to more than 100 categories and millions of Web sites in the 8e6 Database.
8e6’s innovative “pass-by” filtering eliminates poor performance due to traffic volume and enables filtering to happen as fast as a URL request can get out to the Internet. The R3000 appliance sits to the side of the network traffic, watching and comparing requests to the 8e6 database of Web sites and URLs. Proxy Pattern Blocking is another innovative feature from 8e6. This option blocks end-users from using third-party proxies and applications such as Google Web Accelerator, which bypasses filtering.
Enterprise Reporter
8e6 Enterprise Reporter is a forensic reporting tool that documents the history of users who violate an organisation’s Internet Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). It allows administrators to drill down from a high-level query (such as most searched categories) to detailed reports (such as user activity by URL), enabling organisations to correct unacceptable and dangerous behaviour by providing accurate and detailed supporting documentation. The Enterprise Reporter is distinguished from other reporting solutions by the level of detail that it reveals about users and their intent. Many corporate employees are sophisticated enough to bypass Web filter by using on-the-fly proxies and other methods to access prohibited content. With Enterprise Reporter in place, IT staff can identify aberrant traffic patterns that uncover violations against a company’s AUP, and create documentation to take corrective action.
Threat Analysis Reporter
8e6 Threat Analysis Reporter is a real-time monitoring tool that alerts IT staff about an organisation’s current threat level at any given time. This is the first reporting product with a dashboard interface, which allows administrators to observe users in real-time and to take action as necessary.
Together, these products provide comprehensive monitoring and reporting of online activity on and off the organisation's network—the best enterprise defence against security threats, employee misuse of network resources/time spent off-task and liability issues.
Notes to Editors
SC Magazine recently named 8e6 Technologies’ Internet filtering, reporting and monitoring appliances a “Best Buy” for the second consecutive year. The Web content management review, featured in the April 2008 issue, examined solutions from several of the top Internet filtering vendors and declared 8e6 Technologies’ solution the best among its competitors in back-to-back evaluations. SC Magazine’s competitive reviews examine products in a specific market segment and evaluate the solutions across a number of categories. The publication’s “Best Buy” honour goes to one product in each review that is rated outstanding across a range of criteria.
