Leader in Internet Filtering and Reporting Expands Strategic Channel Partnerships and European Presence for Continued Growth in 2008
ORANGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--8e6 Technologies, the leading independent provider of Web filtering and insider threat management solutions for mid-size to large enterprises, today announced record annual growth for the fiscal 2007 year, driven by an industry-leading 38 percent increase in bookings from 2006. The company also substantially increased the size of its new customer wins, contributing to a growth rate that is more than double the industry average. 8e6 Technologies also extended their leadership position in the K-12 education space, partnering with the industry's leading source of technology solutions to governments and educators, CDW-G. In addition, the company has expanded their presence into Europe while acquiring a number of sales representatives and channel partners from competing companies, including SurfControl, serving to broaden the scope of 8e6's reach both at home and abroad for the coming year.
During 2007, 8e6 Technologies continued to achieve record-breaking sales growth numbers for their Internet filtering, reporting and real-time monitoring technology offerings, as evidenced by the following key financial and operational highlights:
* Record year growth in 2007: Bookings at 8e6 grew 38 percent year-over-year from 2006, a significant accomplishment as industry analyst IDC estimates that the "Secure Content and Threat Management" market is growing at an 11.8 percent rate as noted in its December 2007 Worldwide IT Security Software, Hardware, and Services 2007-2011 Forecast: The Big Picture (Document # 210018).
* Industry-leading seat-per-customer ratio and increased market share: 8e6 continued to make significant market share gains in 2007, adding 375 new customers and over 1 million seats. At the close of 2007, 8e6 reported nearly 1,800 customers, with a total seat count exceeding 6.8 million. In the education segment alone, the company protects over 10 million students each year. With an average number of just under 4,000 seats-per-customer, 8e6 finished the year once again with the largest seat-per-customer ratio of any Internet filtering vendor in the market.
* Executive and sales team expansions: 8e6 continued to enhance its sales team with new staff. In mid-2007, security industry veteran Luis Curet came on board as vice president of sales to lead and expand the sales team. Luis formerly held executive positions at Rainbow Technologies and IBM. 8e6 was also able to take advantage of filtering industry changes in 2007, adding several experienced sales executives, including former SurfControl employees.
"2007 was another record-breaking year for 8e6, and we continue to set the bar in terms of company growth and customer retention within our sector," said George Shih, CEO of 8e6. "As we look to the future, we will further expand our focus on product innovation, growing our channel program and escalating our global strategy. Our extensive partnership with CDW-G, continued demand in the education and enterprise sectors and rapid expansion into the U.K. has all positioned 8e6 to far exceed our 2008 projections."
Technology Innovation
8e6 Technologies continues to develop industry-leading technology for the education and enterprise markets. In the first half of 2007, the company announced the 8e6 ProxyBlocker, a dedicated appliance designed to supplement existing URL filtering and protect against the growing use of Web-based proxies and anonymizers, as well as instant messaging and peer-to-peer network use in schools. First developed to solve the growing problem of Web-based proxy use in schools, the 8e6 ProxyBlocker has now been customized and made available for enterprise users.
8e6 continues to develop and ship its flagship R3000 Internet Filter, Enterprise Reporter, Threat Analysis Reporter and Mobile Client product lines to provide comprehensive monitoring and reporting of online activity on and off the network - the best defense against security threats, employee misuse of network resources/time spent off-task, liability issues and student safety.
Channel Expansion
8e6 expanded its 8e6 PartnerFocus channel program with the launch of a streamlined deal registration program, additional co-marketing campaigns and deployment of new online sales resources and tools within the partner portal. In addition, a dedicated Channel Development Team was created to further support channel initiative, as well as business, training and revenue objective for all authorized 8e6 partners. In 2007, 8e6 added 30 new strategic channel partners, including CDW-G, the industry's leading source of technology solutions to governments and educators. CDW-G now offers 8e6 Technologies' award-winning Internet filtering, reporting and proxy-blocking appliances as part of an overall cyber security solution. This combined offering, including a stand-alone proxy-blocking appliance, provides the highest level of protection available to an increasingly Internet-based learning environment.
Education Leadership
8e6 maintains its dedication to the K-12 education market in 2007, currently protecting over 10 million students in the U.S. alone. To date, over 30 percent of the top 100 school districts in the U.S. rely on 8e6's filtering, reporting and proxy-blocking technology to keep their students safe while online.
Customer Growth
In 2007, 8e6 once again excelled in replacing filtering competitors, both in K-12 education and corporate accounts. This replacement of incumbent solutions coupled with 8e6's high renewal rates has allowed the company to consistently experience industry leading growth rates over the past several years.
The company closed significant contracts during the year, including leading enterprise customers, and 8e6 also acquired a number of large school districts, including Orange County Department of Education, Loudoun County Public Schools, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and Scottsdale Unified School District.
