Product End-Of-Life Notice:

8e6 Enterprise Reporter Access Client
8e6 has announced the discontinuation of the 8e6 Enterprise Reporter Access Client product. Reasons for this discontinuation are as follows:

    • Introduction and availability of 8e6’s Enterprise Reporter Web Client.
    • The 8e6 ER Access Client is based on older software technology and is therefore
not capable of supporting the advanced reporting features that will be introduced in  future ER releases.

The ER Access Client product warranty covers use and service for a period of one year from your original contract date, unless an extended support and subscription were purchased. Technical & warranty support will be offered on the 8e6 ER Access Client product until December 31, 2006. Depending on your original contract date, your warranty and support may expire sooner. What’s Really Going On in the Workplace?
8e6 Technologies recently conducted a survey of more than 400 IT professionals during the RSA 2006 Conference to understand how Internet content filtering is providing value in the workplace. The results are surprising and show that while employees may be diligently at their desks on the computer, they may not always be performing the jobs they were hired to do. Click here to read more.

Schools, Students Match Wits Over Web Access

Feature Spotlight:

Google/Yahoo SafeSearch Enforcement
Both Google and Yahoo have very powerful SafeSearch options that will completely prevent cyberporn—images and text—from being returned as search results. But there's a catch: Any user can disable these SafeSearch features with a few clicks—and there's no way for IT managers to know they've done it.

8e6 locks down Google and Yahoo SafeSearch so they remain in force, even if a user clicks the button that's supposed to disable them. The R3000 enables IT managers to set Google and Yahoo's strict filtering, moderate filtering, and no filtering on any PC on their network—from a browser-based graphical user interface. They can alter settings just as easily, tightening the filters on a predefined group of machines. To make things even simpler, all settings can be programmed to time of day, so there's no need for manual intervention. Therefore, once Google and/or Yahoo's SafeSearch is locked down, the search engine uses its proprietary algorithms to filter thumbnails. Read the Google/Yahoo SafeSearch pdf for more information.

Education Premier Event

8e6 would like to thank education clients who attended our Premier Customer Event May 17-19th at the Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, California. A small group of Education customers participated in a 2-day conference, where they gave valuable feedback on how 8e6 products can better serve the needs of education. These customers also received a sneak peak at up-and-coming products. 8e6 would also like to thank Geoff Fletcher, Editor-at-Large for T.H.E. Journal and Campus Technology for his presentation about current issues and future trends in K-12. This intimate get-together enabled direct and effective discussions on the various network and security issues education is facing today, and current and planned solutions 8e6 can provide to mitigate these issues. 8e6 hosted this event for Enterprise clients last October.
