8e6 Technologies is pleased to announce the appointment of Dianna Ho as Product Marketing Manager. Reporting to Director of Product Management David Angier, Ho is responsible for managing a variety of new and existing products and related marketing initiatives.
“Dianna’s strong technical background coupled with her unique vision for customer and channel needs for the future will be a great asset in her role as a key conduit between end-user customers, channel partners and the 8e6 Technologies development team,” said George Shih, CEO of 8e6 Technologies.

8e6 Survey Indicates Web Filtering is Preferred Method for Combating Spyware
8e6 recently conducted an Internet Security survey, revealing that Web filtering at the gateway is the most effective way to prevent Spyware by a 76% response margin, versus end-user education, desktop agents or freeware Spyware killers. The study also showed that 88% of the respondents have been a victim of Spyware, helping validate the need for serious preventative measures.
We surveyed network security and IT professionals from a broad scope of industries with one to 5,000-plus employees, including education, technology, manufacturing, Internet, consulting and Web hosting, in order to learn more about how companies are dealing with current Spyware and phishing problems, and what they are looking for in available solutions. Participants were polled electronically in June 2005, and were asked a series of 12 questions regarding combating Spyware and phishing and preferred solutions. Study results included:
- 88% of respondents have been a victim of Spyware
- 53% of respondents have been a victim of a phishing scam
- 100% of those surveyed spend time daily combating Spyware and 51% consider Spyware to be a serious problem for their organization
- 76% of respondents agree that Web filtering at the gateway is the most effective way to prevent Spyware
- 64% of appliance users prefer this solution due to its ease-of-use; with 56.8% relying on the security an appliance offers
- 49% of respondents want instant access to Internet usage reports.

PROFILE:
Name: Billie Brunk
Title: Exhibits Coordinator and Sales Assistant
Hobbies: Reading, cooking, playing the piano, traveling and enjoying 11 grandchildren.
That friendly voice you speak with when you call 8e6 Technologies’ sales line is none other than Billie Brunk, 8e6’s Exhibits Coordinator and Sales Assistant. Not only does she answer outside sales calls, Billie knows all the ins and outs of most departments at 8e6. If she can’t answer a question, she knows who can and will point you in the right direction. Constantly on the go, Billie spends much of her time preparing for and presenting at trade shows, including purchasing our signature orange gel pens and setting up and taking down booths. Billie started at 8e6 in 1997 as Administrative Assistant to a staff of 19 at the time. Since then, she has worn many hats at 8e6, from serving as HR manager to driving a truck loaded with heavy wooden booths to Las Vegas and San Diego trade shows. The 8e6 Sales and Marketing staff all rely on Billie’s experience and efficiency, so much so, that we don’t even realize it until she is not there. Billie is always willing to stop what she is doing to provide whatever assistance is needed, but most importantly, she always has a smile for staff and customers alike.
Billie's tip for 8e6 Customers: Trade shows are an excellent place to put faces with names and it makes it much easier to have a rapport with somebody when you know who you are talking to. Stop by and say hi next time you’re at a trade show.
