The 8e6 R2000 Internet Filter, an internet filtering, monitoring and reporting solution combined with 8e6 Enterprise Reporter was implemented by Consolidated Graphics, a business based in Houston, Texas. Consolidated operates over 65 printing businesses in 25 states serving customers with high-quality color printed products, frequently moving large graphic files to customers over the Internet via FTP.

"But the big bandwidth users were the peer-to-peer networks where employees were downloading music and videos while at work."

Internally, the company had to make the case that the filtering purchase was needed. To do this, they gathered up the monitoring reports and set out to secure the budget needed to make the purchase. "When we showed the reports to our senior management, it was clear that this was an investment that would quickly pay for itself," said James Cage, Vice President of Information Technology for Consolidated. "After a review of several vendors, we felt that 8e6 Internet Filtering had the best products for our needs. We're confident now that we aren't wasting bandwidth any more," James Cage said. "In order for our business to run effectively, we need to know that our business isn't being choked by the network. 8e6 has helped us accomplish this objective."
